Hades to Potholes Above Tuckup Canyon

Today's Route Stats:

   Distance:  4.0 miles

   Elevation Gain:  400 feet

   Elevation Loss:  300 feet

If we hiked all the way to Shaman, as originally planned, we would need to cover more than 7 miles.  Today started out very warm, so we were really hoping to find water about half way.

I had hiked this section several years ago, and I remembered it as being straightforward and relatively easy.  In fact, once we got around the heads of a couple of side canyons, we could follow a trail that was as good as a trail can get.

All the while we were looking for water.  When we were about half-way to Shaman, we headed to the rim of Tuckup.  Ben found several really nice potholes.  We stopped there for the night.

Again, the afternoon sun was so intense that we all found pockets of shade to wait out the sun, and take naps.
