Today's route stats: 

Today we start the first leg of the long climb to the rim.  We are only going as far as Indian Garden, which has a developed campground, water, and a ranger station.   The Redbuds were in full bloom as we approached Indian Garden.

In the late afternoon, we hiked out to Plateau Point to take in the spectacular views.
