Day 7 November 2, 2013 Flipoff Route to the Rim |

Today's route stats: Distance: 2.0 miles Elevation Gain: 1700 feet Elevation Loss: 0 feetNobody was looking forward to climbing the 1700-foot steep and loose slope to the rim. The day started out cold and everyone started out hiking with jackets. We made good time, reaching the rim in about 2 hours. After a short break we hiked through the Pinyon-Juniper to our cars, which took about 40 minutes. This area (Kanab Creek Wilderness) does not appear to get many visitors. We didn't see a single soul during our entire hike, although we did see some old footprints. |
Once back at our cars, we quickly packed up and headed back on the long dirt road to the highway. Here we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. I drove to Gallup where I spent the night. |
