Side Canyons of the North Arms of Scotty's Hollow

I was warmer last night than the night before, even though I slept out in the open.  It was slightly overcast in the morning.   Today I planned to do a day-hike to the far side of Scotty's.  I packed my day pack with lunch, jacket, and some survival items, but decided to leave my rain gear behind.  I left camp around 8:30 AM.

Almost immediately I ran into side canyons that seemed to take forever to get by.  There are many smaller ones that don't show up on the topo map.  I occasionally dropped down into these canyons looking for native American artifacts -- especially pictographs.  There are literally hundreds of places that look like ideal locations, but no luck.  It was impossible to check out all reasonable locations by myself.  One could spend weeks checking out all the nooks and crannies.

Once I got past the last of Scotty's side canyons, and after searching up and down some of these canyons, I turned around and headed back to my camp.  It was getting pretty cloudy and I was concerned it would start raining before I got back, but all I felt was one or two drops.  Rain looked possible, so I set up my tent on some higher ground where there was less of a chance of being in standing water in the morning.
