Today's Route Stats:

   Distance:  3.9 miles

   Elevation Gain:  250  feet

   Elevation Loss:  300 feet

Today we started out heading for a pothole location at the head of Cove Canyon.  We still started out carrying extra water, just in case.  But at least the temperatures were cool -- probably in the 60s.  Before coming to our expected pothole, we found others, so we stopped at a nice campsite a little early.

The weather report we got before the hike mentioned possible rain, starting on the 25th or 26th.  Although there were a few scattered clouds, it did not look like rain.  We were debating whether or not we should set up our tents.  So I used my InReach to get a detailed weather forecast.  Garman charges a dollar for each detailed weather report, which was well worth it to get a reliable report.  It provided an hour-by-hour forecast, and rain was predicted for later that night.  So we all set up tents.  We were really hoping to get rain, because it would assure us of water for the rest of the trip.

It began raining around midnight, and rained for several hours.  By morning it was mostly clear.
