Today's Route Stats:

   Distance:  5.6 miles

   Elevation Gain:  800  feet

   Elevation Loss:  600 feet

As soon as we got going this morning, it was obvious that it was going to be much warmer than it had been.  Although it wasn't hot, I have a hard time in even warm weather, especially if it is in full sun.

Again, this section of the route was harder than earlier sections.  Heading the side canyons was tedious and confusing.  When we got to Cottonwood Spring, we picked up enough water for the rest of the day and tomorrow morning.  Luckily there were enough potholes in Cottonwood Canyon below the spring that we didn't have to drink the mineralized spring water.

About half a mile past Cottonwood Spring, we passed an old copper mine.  Although it was obvious, I didn't remember seeing it before.  The entrance was blocked off to protect bats.  In about a mile past the mine, we came to a side canyon and decided to stop for the night.
