Today's Route Stats:

     Distance:  2.0 miles

     Elevation Gain:  200 ft

     Elevation Loss:  100 ft

Since our trip was so leisurely and we had lots of time to kill, we decided to hike down into Flipoff Canyon to see a rock art panel that I had seen on previous trips.  And it is a beautiful canyon (in spite of what Todd Martin says in his book).   Our goal for the day was a pothole that Rich Rudow told me about at the head of Crack Baby, the name given to this small canyon by Todd Martin in Grand Canyoneering

Looking Back Towards Our Campsite. Kim Taking a Break. Threatening Rain at Our Campsite.

We were surprised that we didn't see much water on the Esplanade today.  I was glad I had gotten the coordinates for a nice pothole from Rich Rudow.  No doubt we could have found other water sources, but this made it pretty easy.

Kim and Jorge spent some time in the afternoon poking around the area.  I set up my tent and took a nap.  I wasn't planning to sleep inside my tent, but just before dark I felt some sprinkles and moved inside.  But it never actually rained.
